International Study
Learn through culture, place, and practice

Students in every discipline within the College of Design gain tremendous value from studying or interning abroad. Experiencing creative work within its cultural context, or creating your own work in a new environment, provides a unique and transformative learning opportunity. At the University of Oregon, students can choose from more than 200 programs located in 60 countries around the world.

International study allows students to strengthen their portfolios with projects inspired by global settings and cultural perspectives. Many studio-based programs also include international guest critics and peers, offering diverse viewpoints that enrich creative development and challenge existing ways of thinking.

Students focused on criticism and theory benefit by developing a deeper understanding of the layered cultural environments in which creative work takes shape. Learning is further enhanced through visits to museums, galleries, buildings, gardens, design labs, communities, and neighborhoods, providing immersive and experiential engagement with global design practices
