The Softwood Lumber Board and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) recently announced its 2022 Timber Education Prize winners. The awards were earned by creating courses that focus on innovative uses of wood as a building material. Among the prizewinners was Architecture Professor Judith Sheine, Director of TallWood Design Institute (TDI) - a collaboration between the University of Oregon’s College of Design and Oregon State University’s Colleges of Forestry and Engineering. Sheine’s course, “Mass Timber Design Focus” in the UO Master of Science in Architecture Degree Program, fosters innovation, creativity, and environmental stewardship from its students as they engineer sustainably-sourced timber designs.
