Welcome back to all of our returning students, and a very warm welcome to those joining us for the first time!
Whether you’re continuing your studies with us in the College of Design or just starting out, we are delighted to have you here and are excited about the year ahead. There will be plenty of opportunities throughout the year to connect, get involved, and get to know each other, and I look forward to seeing you at reviews, around the corridors, at our social events, and, of course, at the Career Fair at the start of winter term. These are all wonderful opportunities to meet people, share ideas, and make the most of your time at the college.
I’m also very pleased to introduce you to Stephen Duff, our Associate Dean of Student Success, he is a warm, approachable, and genuinely student-focused person who loves helping students have a successful and enjoyable experience during their time with us. Whether you have a question or need some advice, or just simply want to talk something through, please don’t hesitate to reach out to him. He is always happy to listen, help, and point you in the right direction.I’m also excited to introduce the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, a new body I established when I began serving as dean because I want to stay closely connected to the experiences, concerns, and ideas of our students. The Council provides an important opportunity for Stephen and I to hear directly from students about matters that affect you, ideas for improving our student's learning experience, and ways that we can continue to make our school an even stronger community. Serving on the Council is a fantastic experience and opportunity to advocate for your fellow students and, if you are interested in serving on the Council this year or in the future, please let Stephen know, as we would love to hear from you.
I am looking forward to getting to know those of you who are new to the College of Design and, of course, the opportunity to reconnect with those returning, and sharing another exciting year with all of you.Welcome: we are all so glad you’re here!
