Design for All: UO Portland’s Library Design Studio

Last term, a partnership with Bora Architecture & Interiors put students at the center of one of civic architecture’s most complex design challenges. This special partnership between the Library Design Studio with Bora Architecture and Interiors, a prominent Portland-based firm working to reimagine community-centered civic design, challenged graduate and upper-level bachelor students to design community libraries from the inside out, working alongside industry professionals on questions that go far beyond aesthetics.

Davis writes poetically about everything from the mundane to the famous, with some of the sights emblematic of beauty, some the product of fine craftsmanship, some active, and some quiet, but all memorable.

ZGF and UO Alumnus Recognized by Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction for PDX Airport Terminal Expansion and Renovation

ZGF, including BArch '89 Gene Sandoval, were recognized by the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction. The foundation recognized 20 unique projects for the foundation's upcoming 2025 Holcim Foundation Awards. One of the twenty projects recognized was the Portland International Airport main terminal renovation and expansion.

Port approves UO acoustic research laboratory at the Mass Timber and Housing Innovation Campus at Terminal 2

The Port of Portland has approved a lease for the University of Oregon’s acoustic research laboratory planned at the Mass Timber and Housing Innovation Campus at Terminal 2. The Oregon Acoustic Research Laboratory is the research and development anchor tenant planned for the campus, where the Port is transforming a former marine terminal in Portland’s Northwest industrial area into a manufacturing hub to support Oregon’s growing mass timber industry, create new jobs and address the region’s housing shortage.
