Oregon governor appoints PPPM professor to Oregon Housing Stability Council

Associate Professor Gerardo Sandoval has been confirmed by the Oregon Senate to serve on the Oregon Housing Stability Council. Sandoval was nominated for the post by Oregon Governor Kate Brown. Sandoval teaches in the Department of Planning, Public Policy, and Management (PPPM) at the University of Oregon.

Two UO design teams named among Top Ten at New York design show

Two designs by UO teams were among the Top Ten products and installations at WantedDesign 2017 in New York as selected by Dezeen. Studio Gorm—the design office of Assistant Professor Wonhee Jeong-Arndt and Associate Professor John Arndt of the UO’s Department of Product Design—won the 2017 American Design Honors earlier this year.

Historic hotel inspires adaptive designs for SCYP project

When UO architecture undergraduate Shirley Huang had a chance to work on a real-life design project for the City of Albany, she was initially seeking practical experience. City officials thought the former St. Francis Hotel might be adapted to support housing or return to use as a hotel. Through an architecture studio course at the UO, Huang hoped to give city officials some options to implement their vision.
