Richard Sundt’s research focuses on three disparate areas of architectural history: Gothic, Gothic Revival and Oceanic. The monuments he considers are nevertheless linked by a commonality of distinctive formal elements, similar problems relating to ritual function, and a methodology grounded on the analysis of structures, both extant and vanished, and aided by reference to drawings, historic photographs, and a critical reading of archival documents. A more detailed overview of his past and current investigations can be obtained by consulting his personal web page.
