Dean Frances Bronet and Associate Professor Nico Larco led a panel discussion in September at the University of Maryland, which is exploring the possibility of establishing an institute similar to UO’s Sustainable City Year Program (SCYP).

Bronet and Larco, along with City of Springfield Assistant City Manager Jeff Towery, led the hour-long “Panel: Oregon Model” at the daylong workshop in College Park, Maryland, in late September.

A new book by Assistant Professor Gerardo Sandoval, of the Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management, was selected for Honorable Mention for the 2013 Paul Davidoff Book Award. Working all night together on a project can make or break a relationship, but that dedication paid off big for UO architecture undergraduates Benjamin Bye, Alex Kenton and Jason Rood, who won first place in the “Timber in the City: Urban Habitats” contest, which called for proposals for a mixed-use development in Brooklyn, New York.

The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) has confirmed a full eight-year accreditation renewal for both the bachelor of architecture and master of architecture programs at the University of Oregon Department of Architecture.

NAAB is the sole agency authorized to accredit U.S. professional degree programs in architecture. Eight years is the new maximum term effective for decisions made after July 1, 2013, making the Department of Architecture, in the UO School of Architecture and Allied Arts, one of the first to receive this new term of accreditation.
