About Student Affairs

Students arrive at our university with hopes for successful lives, for fulfilling careers, and for opportunities to contribute to our society at large. The Student Affairs office works to ensure sustained, educational success for all undergraduate and graduate students by offering a variety of services and leadership to bridge any gaps that might impede a student's timely graduation. This gives us a precious responsibility. Recognizing this, we pledge to support them during their time with us and to enhance pathways to timely graduation and degree completion.

Dean - Student Socials

The College of Design (DSGN) prides itself on the ability to create an inclusive and welcoming educational experience and community for all. One of the ways that the college delivers an inclusive experience is through its popular Dean Socials. Every term, the College of Design and its Dean host multiple breakfast and lunch socials that feature the unique opportunity for DSGN students to meet with and converse with the Dean of the college and other senior leadership, including the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.

Pizza socials with the dean

Pizza socials with the dean feature delicious pizza, midmorning to afternoon event runtime, and good conversations. Each occasion is hosted in a different part of the DSGN's expansive campus, including its Portland student body.

Advising

College of Design academic and career advisors work with all disciplines within the college. Our approach to advising is student-centered, caring, holistic, inclusive, and culturally aware. We provide a safe, respectful, and confidential space in which to ask questions, discuss your interests, and express any concerns.

Advisors are available to chat with students with an active UO email address between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Chats occur through Microsoft Teams, which is free to use for all UO students.

You may download and install the Microsoft Teams application or log-in through the online web browser application with your Duck ID and associated password.
