Nate McCoy’s tenure as executive director of the Oregon chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors is barely ten months old, but his work has already prompted the Daily Journal of Commerce to include him in the journal’s “Newsmakers 2016.” McCoy, BArch ’04, credits his ability to move the nonprofit organization forward quickly to the relationships he built over the years while working for the Portland Development Commission and the Portland Housing Bureau, as well as connections he made while studying architecture at the University of Oregon and working with design firms in Portland. “My leadership style is trying to focus on the opportunities and run NAMC like a professional business,” he said. “It’s less about resources and more about building programs, infrastructure, and systems that can support contractors in our association.” Read more on the Daily Journal of Commerce website.
