College of Design

The College of Design celebrates its more than 600 graduates and first commencement ceremony under its new name.

The School of Planning, Public Policy and Management (PPPM) recently honored outstanding professionals, alumni, students, and faculty for their contributions to the school, their communities, and the State of Oregon at the annual PPPM Awards Ceremony.

For the past 10 weeks, 14 senior undergraduate product design students have been busy at various studios on campus and around town, sawing, designing, building, hammering, constructing, molding, and sewing in preparation for this one special event where at the end of the night, patrons get to take home their individual place settings as mementos of the occasion.

The School of Art + Design’s annual senior art show, featuring the work of nearly 80 students, takes place in Lawrence Hall on the UO campus beginning June 11 with an opening reception from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., continuing through Commencement Day, June 18.

There’s nothing small about Megan Little’s dreams after graduation. Little, who will earn her bachelor of landscape architecture (BLA) degree, has already accepted a job offer as a landscape designer at a firm thousands of miles away in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

In 2015, when graduate students of color first brought concerns of equity and inclusion forward to the leadership of the School of Planning, Public Policy, and Management (PPPM), the School started holding Listening Sessions to better understand the experiences of students, faculty, and staff and meet the needs of students who come from traditionally under-represented or marginalized communities.

As sports product designers, UO students Natasha Anand, Drew McGrath, and Nick Cantrell jumped at the opportunity to work with Paralympian Ann Yoshida and to help others gain access to the amazing physical and emotional benefits of surfing.

Erin Moore, AIA, Associate Professor of Architecture and Environmental Studies and Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Architecture has been named the new Head of the School of Architecture & Environment, Dean Christoph Lindner announced on Tuesday.

The vision for IPRE is to integrate applied research and experiential education while addressing important problems facing Oregon communities, agencies, local governments, and nonprofits.

Wilson W. Smith III is being recognized with the Lawrence Medal and will be the speaker at the college’s commencement ceremony in June.
